Questions, answered

The things people ask most. Anything else, get in touch.

How does the free trial work?
Every account starts with a 14-day free trial, no card required. During the trial you can create up to 5 site appraisals and use casework and development-plan monitoring without limit. Subscribe any time to lift the 5-site cap and keep full access after the trial ends.
What’s the difference between BYOK and Included AI?
BYOK (“bring your own key”) means you supply your own AI key from Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, and calls go from your browser straight to the provider. It suits you if you already have credit. Included means we manage the AI for you: no key, no setup, costs bundled into your subscription for £10/month more.
Is the AI giving me planning advice?
No. Town Planner Pro’s AI is a planning research assistant: it frames the law, policy and considerations from the data you provide, scoped to UK planning. It does not give advice and is not a substitute for professional judgement. You remain the responsible professional.
Where is my data stored?
Your work is stored on your device first and synced to your private account in the cloud (UK region) so it follows you across devices. Photos and documents are kept in private storage and are never shared. We don’t sell data or run third-party tracking.
What happens if I cancel?
Your account becomes read-only: you can still open and view everything, but adding and editing pause until you resubscribe. Nothing is deleted.
What does the Team plan add?
Team is built for practices with support staff. An office manager administers all of your sites from a desktop console, setting them up, running checks and printing appraisals, so your consultants arrive on site prepared. It’s priced for the workflow, not per head: £250 (BYOK) or £300 (Included) plus VAT, for an admin seat plus 5 consultants, then £25 per extra seat.
Where does the appeals data come from?
Directly from the Planning Inspectorate’s published records, held under the Open Government Licence v3.0, together with the published decision letters. Town Planner Pro holds over 230,000 decided appeals going back a decade, tracks the appeals currently in progress, and adds each new decision within days of publication. Sources are always shown, and every appeal links back to the Inspectorate’s own record.
Which devices does it work on?
The app is built for iPhone and iPad in the field (add it to your home screen and it works like a native app), and runs in any modern desktop browser. The Team desktop admin experience is on its way.
